This month was all about Christmas celebrations! And finally getting to introduce the baby to more extended family and friends once he got his two month old shots. In the new year I’ll be venturing out with the baby and am excited to see what we can (safely) get up to.
Life
I did a Christmas photo shoot with the little fella and love this picture of him looking up at the tree that I captured approximately 0.2 seconds before he flopped over.
Joe and I went to Austen and Andrew’s annual holiday party. It was great to get dressed up and socialize!
A photo from the two month old shots visit that was simultaneously sad and happy because it means we’re at the point where we can go out more!
We had visits with both of our families for Christmas and Joe made a delicious Christmas day feast.
Not pictured is me getting together with some work mentors, the baby meeting Ally and Nina, and hundreds of bath time pictures (bath time is the highlight of my life right now. It’s just too cute).
Books
⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book was reminiscent of Where the Crawdads sing in that it is set in the south, follows a girl who is nearly friendless in the world, and has lovely descriptions of nature. The writing is solid, but the plot twist was predictable and I didn’t find myself rushing to pick this book back up.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I LOVED this book. It helps that I am fascinated by Elon Musk’s companies, and this book made me even more interested in him as a person and what it takes to drive progress the way he does. Isaacson does a masterful job of weaving together the personal element’s of Musk’s story and making inferences and suggestions of how that contributes to his work today without going overboard or drawing conclusions.
I have even more respect for all that Musk has accomplished (and learned a lot I didn’t know about his SpaceX ventures) and there are lessons that I’ll be applying to my own business and life. Even if you don’t want to commit to reading this entire book, I recommend looking up Musk’s “algorithm” for simplification.
