Dumbledore says this to Harry and Ron after he has to revoke his former statement that if they broke anymore rules they would be expelled. As it turned out despite breaking countless rules they did an extreme service to Hogwarts by riding the school of the horrors of the Chamber of Secrets, and were rewarded. This spoke to me because I am constantly wrong but still think I’m great ;). Admitting that you are wrong, as Dumbledore does here, is an invaluable trait because it shows that you are willing to recognizing your own flaws and learn from it. Having to eat your words is not a reflection on your greatness but rather the way you handle the eating of said words shows your true worth. Do you make excuses or accept responsibility and then act accordingly? Obviously the latter is the preferable course of action.
