I have this thing about wanting to have a signature style. Although I wrote about why you shouldn’t define your style, I still find myself thinking about the exact image I want to portray. My best friend Katie is a color expert; she always talks about what “color season” a person is and what they should wear to most flatter them because of it.
For a long time I only wore silver jewelry. It wasn’t a conscious decision, it just so happened to be that it was what I was most attracted to. After Katie told me that, with my color season, gold was really more of my color I started to incorporate gold accessories into what I wore.
This of course led to silver being left out. It made me stop and think “why should I choose just one color to wear?” And the answer to that question is there is no truly good reason to stick with just one precious metal! Now I wear gold and silver all of the time (even together; what a rebel I am, right?).

Here is a list of some reasons you shouldn’t choose between gold and silver:
- You look good in both. If you’re wearing nice jewelry, trust me you look good no matter what color it is.
- You are an inclusive person. Discrimination is not ok and you know it.
- Mixed metal stacks are all the rage. As you know I like to keep things classic. However, I’ve been wearing a stack with as much enthusiasm as the next girl and its been mixed metals. I wear a two tone watch, add a silver Cape Cod bracelet, dainty Tiffany & Co. charm and pearls and you have yourself a simultaneously trendy and timeless statement.
- You like to live without limitations. So go for it. Be bold and embrace it all!
