I am sure you are being bombarded from all sides with posts about what happened to all of your favorite bloggers during 2015, so allow me to add another 😉 Earlier this week I recapped the best of 2015 from the blog (make sure to check it out! And I discussed why you should set principles instead of resolutions), but this post will be from a personal perspective.
I don’t normally get too personal, aside from the occasional allusion to an issue I’m facing, accompanied by a post with advice, followed up by a post about how I never take my own advice… Let me just say that 2015 was certainly a year of growth. I decided on a career path, went through a breakup, lost someone close to me, was shut out by a best friend, achieved professional success above my dreams, began to focus on living a minimalist life and managed to do it all while maintaining my perspective. Since I’m all about positivity, I’m going to give you a recap of the highlights of 2015!
Calea became my friend through sales competitions and now I would hardly know how to get along without her! From professional life discussions to trying to figure out boys, her becoming my friend in 2015 has certainly been a highlight! She’s off to study abroad in Thailand (because she’s so global and glamorous) which means we’ll have to spend a lot of time on Skype, but I’m not complaining.
Having my first internship, with Target, was a great introduction to what full time work is like. I am indebted to my mentor, Alex, who taught me that following your passion is the only choice. He always said that I was going to learn a lot more than the ins and outs of retail, and he was right!
I met the founder and editor of Darling Magazine at a Random House event and it was one of the best days of my life, and certainly my favorite day of the year.
I’m a CA (community advisor, RA at other schools) again this year and my staff has been just as fantastic. In fact, along with Calea becoming an awesome new friend, I also became much closer with Kevin who I knew from my crew days! This has been the year of great new friends.
Bollywood night was a dream, as expected. My darling friend Ashna is the best date!
Another great dance night was the Colonial Ball I attended with my best friend Ally. We learned all about the traditional dances the founding fathers did and got to enjoy the beautiful clothing of people from the past. No doubt we will go again next year!
Also, I saw the pope in real life when he came to visit Philly! I didn’t take any pictures because I wanted to experience it through my eyes instead of a screen. I can barely describe what it was like to see him go past on his pope-mobile. I was in awe.
Lastly, I spent countless hours with this girl baking, and taking pictures, and discussing the world. She is an absolute gem and one of the best people I know (and a complete daredevil like me! Exhibit A: skydiving)! She will watch Bollywood movies with me and I will go whale watching with her and that pretty much describes the ideal friendship.
What were the highlights of your year?
Check out what I had to say about 2014!
