Hi! I’m Alyssa and I help people communicate persuasively by simplifying their ideas.
I’ve always been obsessed with the power of a well-told story. Whether it’s buried in a dusty history book, displayed on a museum wall, or hidden within a complex technical architecture at Google, I believe the most influential voices are those with the courage to communicate only what matters.
This blog started back in 2014 and has covered a wide range of topics from etiquette to minimalism. Over a decade later, it has evolved right alongside me and now covers Reading, Life & Career, and Culture.
While the topics have changed, my goal remains the same: to help you learn about new (and old) stories and to make the most of your work and life.
My professional journey into the art of simplicity began in sales at IBM and Looker. Today, as the Global Content Manager for Google Cloud’s Data portfolio, I spend my days translating technical complexity into winning narratives.
I take these lessons from leading global content strategy and bring them to the stage. As a Speaker and Consultant, I teach leaders how to master the art of intentional simplicity, ensuring their most important ideas are understood and acted upon by C-suite stakeholders.
Over the years I’ve also spent countless hours learning about the worlds of history and art, and reading voraciously. When living in Manhattan, I took advantage of all of the cultural institutions in the city, especially the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the New York Public Library. This has given me inspiration to research and tell stories that aren’t part of most curriculums.

And finally in the personal realm, I met my husband Joe, in college, so another change over the years is my last name (it used to be Freitas)! We welcomed a baby in 2023 and you’ll see appearances of my family on our many adventures that I love to share.
I’m so glad you’re here. Whether you’re looking for a new book recommendation, career strategy for the age of AI, or a partner to help your team find its clearest voice, let’s continue the story together.
