As is always the way, time is flying by as the year comes to a close. I shared a bucket list recently for the holiday season that I find helpful to make the most of these few short weeks!
Sheetal and I wanted to feel like we were back in Portugal, so we went to Joey Bates Cafe on the Lower East Side for pastel de nata. It was delicious and we really liked the unique passion fruit flavor.
I went to the Met to check out the special exhibits and enjoyed learning about the Trompe l’Oeil tradition, or deceive the eye. I love super realistic paintings, so this was right up my alley.
I’ve been journaling a lot more frequently and trips to Maman’s for hot chocolate is my favorite place to write.
Joe finally came to the office with me and I loved showing him around where I work and getting delicious meals together – the Google office cafes are the best!
I went down to Philly for a few days for training work and got to see Casey. The station was already decked out for Christmas.
Joe and I went out to a special dinner at Carne Mare to celebrate some recent hard work and it was absolutely delicious!
Earlier this year Sheetal got me a gift certificate to take a private tour through Broadway Up Close. I decided on the Hamilton tour to learn more about the behind the scenes of the show and to learn about more revolutionary history in Manhattan. It was so fun! I got a lot of good podcast episode ideas 🙂
This year Joe and I hosted Thanksgiving for my family. “Hosted” is a loose term here. We provided the venue and entertainment, but we have not had gas in our apartment for over half a year, so we are limited in our cooking. My parents very kindly brought all of the food from Jersey (that inflation is really hitting hard in the city) and Joe prepared a great meal using just our countertop air fryer and hot plate. It was an impressive feat: one ham and three hot sides, plus the brownies my parents baked before coming in.
For entertainment, my parents and I went to the Macy’s Thanksgiving day parade! It was such a cool experience, made all the more special because my friend James got us into a special area for viewing.
How was the second to last month of the year for you? What are you hoping for in December?
