Summer is quickly approaching (the first official day is June 21 – next week!) and I’m thinking about making the most of these sweet, fleeting months. Aside from going on a trip (more on that next week 😏) I wanted to brainstorm some ideas for a summer bucket list.
Feel free to repurpose this for yourself or add to it! I’d love to hear what you’re excited about doing this summer.
Go on a picnic in the park
Pack up your favorite snacks or grab a burger from Shake Shake and camp out for an afternoon in your park – you’ll find me in Central Park with a milkshake in hand.
attend a community festival
Many communities have gatherings and festivals throughout the summer. Take time to find out what is going on locally and put it on your calendar! The Upper West Side has a lot happening this summer that I am excited to take advantage of.
Read at the beach
I’m not a big beach person, so aside from ample shade via an umbrella, there has to be an activity I’m looking forward to doing once I get there – what could be better than reading?!
Eat al fresco
For you this could be taking advantage of outdoor space at home (in my case that would be on the fire escape) or going to a restaurant that has outdoor dining.
Make S’mores
I am passionate about chocolate and roasting marshmallows to perfection, and ending the night with a happy stomach and smokey hair. You can do this with your own fire pit or even in the microwave – use whatever you have!
Dance in the rain
When I was a kid I loved going outside to dance in the rain. There are few sensations like going out in a downpour and feeling the wet grass on your feet and looking up at the opening of the heavens.
Have a day to yourself
Play hooky, just because. And leave your phone at home.
Ride a roller coaster
I’m a huge fan of amusement parks and particularly roller coasters. Screaming and flying along at high speeds is my idea of a good time, but you could easily change this item to any thrill you like.
Go to a concert
Whether it’s as simple as stopping to listen to a performer on the street or attending a formal concert, try and listen to live music somewhere.
Enjoy the berry of your choice
I’m a strawberry person myself. Take advantage of your favorite berry being in season and enjoy it on its own or with whipped cream.
What are you adding to your summer bucket list?
