September was the month we moved back to New Jersey, and October was the month we came home to New York City! It feels so good to be back. At the start of the month we were preparing for the move. We had to interview with the co-op board of our building, hire movers, and reassemble all of our items from my parents’ house.
While all of this was going on we were also soaking up New Jersey, including going down to Long Branch to visit with my mentor and friend.
Joe and I also continued our Wednesday night dates and had a great meal at Raymond’s in Montclair. They mistakenly brought us a different dessert than we ordered and we didn’t notice. By the time they realized, we had already started on what was brought to us, so we ended up having two desserts!
We went to my high school’s annual used book sale and found a bunch of great books! It is a massive sale that requires a map.
The Halloween decorations around my parents’ neighborhood are extensive and involved. It really gets you in a festive mood.
Finally moving day arrived! I wrote a post with my moving tips and it was a smooth experience for us. We were set up and unpacked quickly, so it already feels like home. I’m planning to film an apartment tour at some point soon, but here is a taste of what it looks like.
Pretty much as soon as possible I was on my way back to the Met. I went to see the new exhibit in the costume institute, but I wasn’t impressed. If you want to follow along real time with my museum adventures, be sure to check out my Instagram.

The Coris came to visit and we had a great day walking around in Central Park and, you guessed it, visiting the Met.
I hosted my very first dinner party because we now have an actual dining table! Christina and Chrystalla came over and I prepared roast chicken, sides, a meat and cheese platter, and they supplied many, many desserts. It made me so happy to be able to have my friends spend time in our home.
Another big activity from this month was going to an event at the New York Historical Society to see the author Robert A. Caro speak. You can read all about the experience in this blog post.
I went back to the office for the first time this month and it makes me so happy! I love to chat with my colleagues and learn about what they are working on, plus the perks and views at the Google offices don’t hurt either.
Joe and I had a great last weekend of the month to celebrate a promotion I got at work. We went to a comedy show, out to some great meals, and to a new exhibit at the New York Public Library (also featured on my Instagram).
How was your October? What are you most looking forward to next month?
