I’m not a big foodie. Don’t get me wrong, I love to eat and pride myself on eating a wide variety of cuisines, however I am in no way adroit in the kitchen. Luckily for me, my best friend Ally is a great chef and baker so I can go over to her apartment to be treated to a night of food fun, which I did over Labor Day weekend.
Also over that weekend I had a lovely, relaxing Sunday which I am excited to share! My friend Tina and I went to visit the Kuser Farm Mansion in Hamilton, NJ which was fascinating. The Kuser family owned a variety of businesses including hotels, a brewery, a trolley car line, and more. My favorite fact was that the family made the initial investment in FOX Pictures; a hefty (for the time) $200,000. To put that in perspective, they built the entire mansion for around $50,000. There was movie equipment in the house along with original film posters and apparently the family would have showings of films, before they were released, in the dining room. I would have loved to have been a friend of the Kusers.
Now on to the promised food blogging 🙂 Ally and I decided to make peanut butter chocolate chip cookies which were absolutely delicious. And of course, Ally is not only a talented baker, but photographer as well. Seriously, check out the amazing photos she takes!
When baking I cannot recommend highly enough that you listen to the Midnight In Paris soundtrack. It’s seriously perfect. I also suggest you eat your cookies while watching Disney movies. Trust me, it’s just about the most relaxing and enjoyable experience.
I thought I’d share a little “behind the scenes” too because it’s good to remember that not everything is as glamorous as we make it appear. Casey (my friend in the background) and I were not too helpful, but we were there for moral support!
I know I have a lot to learn when it comes to food blogging (like actually taking note of what the recipe is…oops), but I hope you enjoyed this attempt and I look forward to sharing more in the future.
What is your favorite way to spend a weekend?
