Seeing as I just talked about spending and how to do less of it in the last post, how fitting it is that today I am going to share a purchase I made in the past year that I can’t live without (irony is fun isn’t it?). I’ve joined a monthly linkup through The Well from The B Bar and the first fun prompt is to answer the question: What did you purchase in the past year that became invaluable to you?
My all-time best purchase was my iHome many, many years ago. I love listening to music at any time of the day and have gotten more enjoyment out of that item than anything else I have ever owned. It’s not surprising then that my favorite purchase of 2014 are my SE215 Sound Isolating Earphones from Shure.
I go to bed relatively early when I’m at school (between 9:30 and 10:30) but quiet hours don’t start until 11. As a CA I could go into the hall and demand quiet, but I don’t want to spoil my residents’ fun and I know that my sleep time is unusual for a student. After expressing this problem to my father he went on a hunt for the solution and came up with the earphones.
They. Are. The. Best. When I put them on and turn up my music a bit, all of the background noise goes away and I am able to fall asleep! There is no doubt that these earphones do everything they claim to and do it well. Now my residents are happy because I’m not shushing them and I’m happy because I can go to sleep without hearing them.
What was a purchase you made in 2014 which turned out to be invaluable?
A good set of headphones are definitely worth the investment. My brothers have Beats and I have been so tempted to buy a pair. Great answer to an awesome question!!
I recently got a Macbook after having a PC laptop all my life, and I honestly don't know why I didn't buy one sooner! It's so funny how we become used to using new things so quickly. Great post! 🙂
My brother also has Beats and loves them! Thank you for reading 🙂
I switched from a PC to a Mac and felt completely the same way! The reliability of is what really sold me. I can't even tell you how many times I got the blue screen of death and a crash dumping message with my PC. Thank you for reading!
Glad you're enjoying your new purchase, Alyssa!
Thank you! I noticed your item is your flannel sheets; they must be soooo warm!
I've been considering a pair of noise-canceling headphones. I love my Bose speaker (which was one of my choices for today!!), but sometimes I need music that only I can hear 🙂 I need to check this pair out!
Annie Reeves
I can't recommend these enough! They completely cover your ears so it makes it perfect if you want to escape to your own world.
I could REALLY use some new headphones but always gravitated towards ear buds. But I think I may need to check these out!
ooh i love this idea. i've been looking for a pair that will cancel out background noise — an open concept environment is awful when you need to really get down to business and work!
That is gold! The noise of res life was crazy so these must be a fabulous set. Will definitely keep these in mind when I'm in the market next 🙂

I've had these on my Amazon wishlist for ages! So fun to see your post. 🙂

I definitely needed these when I was in college and living in the dorms!

These actually are earbuds (I just used a stock photo haha) and they are wicked comfortable so make sure you look into them!
I've heard that complaint about open concept before haha I hope you find a solution!
Res life is nothing if not noisy 🙂
You should totally get them! I can't recommend them enough
It amazes me how loud people can be haha
What a great idea! I wish I had thought of it when I lived downtown and the bars were open (and loud) until 1am on the weekends. I've also heard great things about the Bose noise canceling headphones. I tried them out at the holidays and they really do work!
Love this and I can relate! I got a pair of Beats for Christmas, and have been wondering how I lived without them (I thought about using them as my invaluable purchase, but since I technically didn't buy them…). Like yours, they cancel out so much noise, and when I put them on while working, I can focus so much better. Thanks for participating in our first linkup! Yay!
These look like a great set of headphones. These would be especially perfect for flying because they look so comfortable, and would probably drown out snoring (I always get stuck sitting next to a snoring person!) Great linking up with you!
Noise cancelling headphones are a great idea when it comes to trying to catch some sleep in a dorm. they can get pretty loud at times. Great thinking. I bet they sound really good too when you're playing your favorite tunes!
It was really a toss up for me to choose which headphone to buy, but these won out based on price! I'm glad you are no long suffering from noisy bars
Thank you for hosting! Headphones are so important to help you focus that I can hardly believe I ever got by without them
What bad flying luck you have haha I will certainly be taking these on my travels later this semester! Good to link up with you too!
They really are great! I play relaxing Indian music and it totally transports me
I was just telling the hubby last night I wish I had asked for a pair of headphones like this for Christmas. I can't have them at work, but they would be perfect for the gym! That would really cancel out all the extra noise and let me focus on getting my booty in shape!

No doubt being focused is important for getting your booty in shape haha Maybe this can be a Valentine's Day gift!
