I recently spent a day in the city because my brother had a dance convention to attend. After dropping him off I went to explore Manhattan!
The first stop was central park. There were soooo many dogs running around because it was off leash hours. Even though I’m really not a dog person it was cute to see all of them jumping around celebrating their moment of freedom 🙂
This shot was taken under the Dipway Arch.
I’m wearing a shirtdress from Urban Outfitters and carrying a purse of my great grandmother’s.
After central park I walked down fifth avenue and peeked through a barrier to see a bit of real estate I wouldn’t mind snatching up.
I ended up at the public library (as I so often do. Something about books just seems to beckon me!) and was pleasantly surprised to see an exhibit about children’s literature.
My favorite part of the exhibit was about Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Alice was the first professional acting role I ever had so I have a connection to her, plus I love all of Lewis Carroll’s (or Charles Dodgson’s) work.
This is the original copy of the work that Lewis Carroll gave to Alice Liddell who was the inspiration of the work (there is a great historical fiction novel called Alice I Have Been about Alice Liddell and Charles Dodgson’s relationship).
And of course the Harry Potter bit was great to look at! Imagine, it was the fastest selling book in history?!?! You know it has to be good. Check out my series on Harry Potter here.
The rest of the library was simply beautiful! I really enjoyed the map room but didn’t take any pictures because I was too busy admiring it.
This ceiling painting depicts Prometheus stealing the knowledge of fire from the gods to give to humans. I guess we all owe Mr. Prometheus a thank you 🙂
What do you like to do when you go into the city? Any favorite spots?
