Like most people, I do my best to stay informed so I can speak intelligently about pressing current events. However, I don’t want to dedicate a great amount of time to sourcing articles and reading through each one when really I am looking for an overview with just enough details. I want to keep it simple, after all.
One day, over a year ago, I stumbled upon theSkimm; a daily (Monday through Friday) email newsletter with an overview of the day’s headlines. It comes around 6 in the morning and is the perfect way to start your day. Background information is always given so you won’t feel lost and is written in easy to understand language. To make it even better, the authors add a dash of humor to keep you interested (and it’s great to sometimes steal their jokes to use throughout the day…).
I actually recommended theSkimm to a friend quite a while ago and was surprised and pleased when she reached out to me because she wanted to interview me about how I use theSkimm. She is a journalism major at TCNJ and was doing a study on why theSkimm is so popular and what makes it unique. Clearly if studies are being done, it is something you should know about! So keep it simple, click below, and sign up!
