Having something that is your favorite is a comfort. It gives you something to turn to that you know you will enjoy every time. For me, having a favorite movie, book, and album is so important! If I’m bored or sad or just need entertainment, I know I can find comfort in any of these. So, without further ado, let me share my favorites with you (and now I’m rhyming…).

Film is one of my favorite mediums of expression. Although I myself am not a film maker, I have a great deal of respect for the craft. My favorite movie is Midnight In Paris (written and directed by Woody Allen). First of all, I love Paris! The atmosphere, food, architecture, history, and lights all contribute to making this city one of my favorite that I’ve ever visited. Woody Allen did a marvelous job of capturing the city’s essence. In addition, the humor is intelligent and witty, and the integration of two time periods (1920s and present day) is very well done! The film also includes many historical characters from F. Scott Fitzgerald, to Pablo Picasso, to Ernest Hemingway. All of the portrayals are extremely satisfying.

My favorite thing to do is read. I love nothing more than to spend an afternoon curled up with a captivating book in my reading chair by the window. Loosing myself to another world is a magical experience which can only be found when reading. I have a special interest in sailing and adventure stories, so when I first read Bloody Jack: Being an Account of the Curious Adventures of Mary “Jacky” Faber, Ship’s Boy it was the perfect match. The novel is well written and fast paced. Jacky is a lovable and relatable character whose adventures make me wish that I was living in the 1800s and sailing the seas. There are 10 books in the series so far and I love every single one! I hope another is coming out soon….

My favorite album is “The Dance” by Fleetwood Mac. It is especially impressive that it is the live recording from a 1997 concert. It is a classic sound with a great emotional range. My favorite song on the album is “Dream”. The gentle tone of the accompaniment and vocals along with the honesty of the lyrics contribute to my admiration of the song.
Well, those are my favorite film, book, and album. Check them out so maybe they can become your favorite too!
